Science in the Arts

Just to get everyone’s brain gears turning and give you something interesting to read about, I thought I’d share this. Sort of a “This month’s interesting article in the field” sort of deal.

Interesting article by David Reid, Microwave Casting. Spurred by studies of the Illawara Technology Center, this method was developed. It’s an interesting fusion of semi-modern technology with traditional styles of pour or gravity casting. Anyone up for doing a demo at a COMAG meeting?

I believe Adam has more information regarding “cast your own wedding ring” kits.

Ooh, this sounds like fun! I remember seeing a small kiln? that can be placed in a microwave for fusing glass. As I recall it reached 1500 degrees.
